One day in Ourika valley

We leave Marrakech around 9:00 in the morning then drive toward the High Atlas Mountains, passing beautiful landscapes and Berber (16th and 17th century) villages. On our first stop we will visit a traditional Moroccan house, to see how people live and how they cook. From the roof of the house there is a beautiful view looking down on a 17th century village and the valley.

The owner of the house will conduct a tea ceremony to show us how to make mint tea and after they serve us a kind of country breakfast (bread, butter, honey, olive oil and tea). After this Berber breakfast we will continue deeper in the valley until we reach Setti Fadma at the end of the road. At Setti Fadma we will leave the van and go hiking for one hour to see some famous water falls. Upon climbing back in the van we will drive halfway back to Marrakesh and stop for lunch in a nice Berber family’s house that has beautiful views of the valley. Lunch is composed of a variety of Moroccan Berber tagine with salad or couscous. After lunch in Timalizin, we will continue on foot through three Berber villages: first we’ll leave Timalizin, then proceed through Tawrirte, and finally Akhlij village, the last Berber village in Ourika valley. We will meet our van in Tnen Ourika with its big market every Monday. By 5:00pm we arrive back to Marrakech.
